SEP 2011: Mathew L. Smrz, Private Pilot Airplane, SEL.

Future Naval Aviator

Customer writes: “Am I High Aviation and the phenomenal instructors here at the Stevens Point Municipal Airport, have given me the foundation I need to start a successful career in aviation. From the days of sitting in the cockpit of my dad’s Bell 47 helicopter, to my first flight in a Piper Cherokee at the age of 11; aviation has consumed my every passion.  With the outstanding instruction provided by John Thompson, I was able to successfully solo after only 6 hours and received my Private Pilot certificate with exactly 40 hours on September 28, 2011. It is my full intent to pursue aviation as a career and starting March 4th 2012, I will begin my training to become a Naval Aviator.  I firmly believe that had it not been for the reliable aircraft, outstanding support provided by the airport managers and , of course, the second-to-none-instruction provided here, I would not have made it as a competitive applicant for a Naval Aviator position. One thing I know for sure is that no matter where the U.S. Navy takes me, I will always remember that my training as a pilot started right here in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, with the remarkable instructors; John Thompson and Wanda Zuege.  One can only say, “Thank you.”  Matthew L. Smrz, Private Pilot, Future Naval Aviator
