Stevens Point Area Senior High student, earns ticket to fly passengers!
Wednesday, July 13, 2011: Ryan Wessel, a certificated pilot of single engine airplanes under the authority of Part 61 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, is now authorized to fly passengers for pleasure. A graduate of Am I High Aviation, LLC, Wessel trained with John Thompson, Master Certified Flight Instructor, at the Stevens Point Municipal Airport (KSTE).
There are two parts to passing the flight test: The oral part of the flight test and the actual flight test. Ryan successfully displayed the aeronautical knowledge required to fly legally and safely in the National Airspace System. After a two hour flight, Woody determined Wessel also exhibited safe flight skills, safe flight techniques, and good judgement. Sherwood “Woody” Williams, Designated Pilot Examniner, endorsed Ryan’s airmanship.
August, 2010: Ryan Wessel attended Am I High Aviation, LLC’s Weekend Ground School and passed the Private Pilot Knowledge (written) Test.
Ryan Wessel writes: “I have always had an interest in aviation, but never really thought about actually flying. That all changed one day when I watched a float plane takeoff from a lake in northern Wisconsin. I thought it was so neat that I wanted to look into flying myself. That same week I went for a plane ride and was immediately hooked and started taking lessons shortly after. My favorite flight was a long cross-country trip which started and ended at the Stevens Point Municipal airport, with landings at Eau Claire and Rhinelander airports. I look forward to building up my flying experience and pursuing an instrument rating.”
