Instrument Rating Requirements:

A person who applies for an instrument rating must:

•  Hold a current private pilot certificate
•  Received and logged ground training.
•  Pass an FAA knowledge (written) test.
•  Pass the required practical/flight test.
•  Aeronautical experience, including:
– 50 hours of cross-country flight time as PIC
– 40 hours of actual or simulated flight time including 15 hours of (dual) flight training.
Cross Country Procedures:
– At least 250nm performed in the IFR system
– An instrument approach at each airport, with three different kinds of approaches.
